Experiences with Live Mesh

I have had some time to play around with Live Mesh. It is a great experience to be able to securely sync files between different machines. So far I have managed to replicate all of my music to my Media Center and in turn have my favorite music replicated to my laptop. Of course it takes a while when you have a lot of music but the sync experience is seamless. usually when I buy music I rip it on my Laptop and store it there. What will happen now is that it’s stored in a sync folder that automatically gets replicated to my Media Center and made available to play from there. Being a TDC customer (still) I have access to Play and this works the same way as I have authenticated my Media Center with Play too meaning all music can be played there too.

All I need now is the announced mobile integration that is somewhat available at m.mesh.com just without the client for mesh. I wonder what the plans are for skydrive…

As it was easy to install, get apache running and WordPress and its prereqs one thing is keeping me from having it live. This is nothing short of a disaster to me as it means that I have to manually touch the system to fix the IP after a reboot – which happens rather frequently at this point while still configuring the system. Once done this could work as I rarely reboot.

I will keep the box offline until I either find a way to import my previous posts to here or a fix is provided for this bug.

UPDATE: Laust pointed out that the bug I link to above is not the right one for which I apologize. The correct bug is here. There seems to be a workaround that I will try out as soon as possible. More to follow on this.

First Live consideration

For a while I have been hosting my own domain at home on a Laptop running Ubuntu. With the decision to go Live I now consider moving this domain to Live domains. I’m not sure at this point as I am a gmail user for e-mail. I do however seriously consider having my domain moved to this service.

Moving to a Live experience

After much thought I have decided to give it a try and switch entirely to a Live experience on the net. So what does this mean? I will be sharing photos, blogging, files and other stuff when I get to it through Live in one form or another. I have also started using Live Mesh which I’m sure will be able to tie into this in some shape or form.
